The shape of emotions. Types of rings.

27 September 2019

Rings are the jewellery pieces most desired and loved by women, and master goldsmiths have created different types of rings to rival the elegance and diversity of women.
Of course, since it is a handcrafted product, it is limiting and difficult to try to put these jewellery pieces into restrictive categories. However, it is possible to classify them according to their most prominent and evident features.
Let’s see which are the most admired models, because they are symbols of timeless emotions.

Band ring
This ring has a very wide and thick surface that is often embellished with sparkling decorations.
The rings in this category are heavier than other ring styles, so goldsmiths sometimes create empty details in the stem to make them lighter.

Pavé diamond ring
Pavé rings are characterised by their high value and large number of diamonds set at the top of the rings.
The word Pavé comes from the French word for “paved” as in a street paved with sparkling cobblestones. The small square stones fit together perfectly due to the geometric shape of the diamonds or precious stones that decorate the surface of the ring, giving it a unique brilliance.

Rivière ring
This type of ring is a valid alternative to the solitaire or trilogy ring. It has 5 precious stones on the top, with a lower carat weight than those of the solitaire, but higher than the pavé ring.
The stones do not necessarily have to be the same size, in fact, the increasing or decreasing size can give the ring an even more unique look.

Solitaire ring
The most classic of all ring settings, the solitaire ring style is the best way to pledge everlasting love. Its beauty and main feature is represented by a single diamond, usually brilliant cut and set on top of the ring.
The setting tends to be very simple because it is designed to support and showcase a single precious stone that can have different characteristics of purity, shine and carat.

Trilogy ring
The Trilogy ring features three prominent gemstones arranged at the top of the ring, and can be perceived as the union between a rivière and a solitaire ring. This jewellery piece has evolved over time to include ever-more creative and elegant settings.
Unlike the rivière, the precious stones do not always line up with each other, and do not always have the same carat weight, but can create striking constellations of light.

Veretta ring
The veretta ring is made up of one or more rows of precious stones.
When the stones cover the top of the ring, it is called a “half turn” or “half veretta,” and this style, more than any other, resembles an Elizabethan crown.

Contrarié ring
The Contrarié ring features two stones set face to face at the top of the ring. The concept of this jewellery piece is to highlight two entities opposite each other but united in substance.
