The “Scia di Stelle” Collection, love under the light of the stars

2 July 2019

The Salvadori collections are inspired by the thoughts, experiences and stories that speak of love and all its nuances.
To create the “Scia di Stelle” jewellery, the designer Marzia Pendini let herself be carried away by the feelings aroused by a Japanese legend that is celebrated with the Tanabata festival.

The romantic story at the origin of this celebration features two lovers, the weaver girl Orihime and the cowherder Hikoboshi, who represent the stars Vega and Altair respectively. As a result of their passion, the two forgot their duties and were therefore punished by her father, Tentei, King of the Sky, who separated the two lovers and confined them to two banks of the Heavenly River, represented by the Milky Way. The two were only allowed to meet once a year on the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunisolar calendar.
To commemorate this meeting of love, the Japanese flow into the streets illuminated by zen-washi lights, typical paper lanterns enriched by various symbolic decorations, and wearing the traditional yukata.
The city streets are decorated with tanzaku, strips of coloured paper symbolising the silk threads woven by Orihime. Lovers write poems, prayers and desires addressed to the stars on them before hanging them on bamboo branches.

Salvadori cannot escape these expressions of love and wishes, passing them on to those who choose its beautiful jewellery. In doing so, it has created a prized and dynamic collection representative of that eternal romanticism encompassed by its jewellery.
The Scia di Stelle collection consists of jewellery in which the elegant and orderly succession of diamonds, hand selected to ensure the highest quality, gives radiance and elegance to the wearer, reminding them that even in the darkness there is always a light, the one that swears eternal love.
