The hidden meaning behind each finger

25 October 2019

Hands have taught us to recognise shapes and textures. We use them to discover new sensations and to live intense emotions, like when we squeeze the hand of those we love or greet them with a caress.

That’s why they deserve to be adorned with precious jewels enriched with important stones capable of expressing our personality to everyone through the position on the fingers.

Let’s start with the hands which reflect the two hemispheres of our brain. Wearing rings on the left hand denotes a sensitive, imaginative and sweet person, while those who prefer wearing them on the right hand are said to be self-assured and dynamic, always achieving their goals because they have a rational and strong personality.

The fingers also have their own meaning and can reveal a side of your personality, except for the ring finger which has always symbolised love.

The first is the thumb whose solid and strong shape represents power. Wearing a ring on this finger is a way to show everyone that you are self-confident and sure of yourself.

The index finger is associated with leadership, wearing a ring on this finger shows others that you’re a person with determination and ambition.

The middle finger indicates a sense of responsibility, embellishing it reveals a desire for balance and stability.

According to tradition, the ring finger has always been reserved for the engagement and wedding ring. If you are not married or engaged, this position still acquires the meaning of love, but in its broadest sense, that of living harmoniously in a protective and loving family.

Finally, the little (pinky) finger. Small and aristocratic, this finger symbolises vanity, but also creativity and intuition.

Choosing a ring is not only a gesture of love, but also shows how much you know the receiver and how much you’ve been paying attention to them. Visit our Diamond Ateliers in Venice and Vicenza to find the perfect handcrafted jewellery piece to express your love.
