Bricola Collection, a tribute to Venetian everyday life

31 January 2020

Venice is unique, we say this often at Salvadori, that’s why we have decided to dedicate an entire precious collection to it.

Moreover, our designer Marzia Pendini is a bona-fide Venetian, who loves every part of Venice, even the day to day and invisible aspects. She often draws boundless inspiration from these aspects, allowing her imagination to transform them into jewellery pieces full of meaning and commemorating a glorious Venice.

The Bricola collection is a perfect example of this. This jewellery collection is inspired by the wooden poles of the same name, which are placed at the edges of the canals to signal where the water is too shallow for boats to navigate.

The bricole, in Venetian everyday life, are almost an invisible symbol, but they are a fundamental signal to help boats safely navigate across the lagoon, preventing them from running into difficulty and dangerous situations.

These groups of poles, usually three, indicate the canals that can be navigated, even at low tide and are not only necessary for beginners, but also for more experienced sailors when the fog of the lagoon reduces visibility.

The bricola collection is very meaningful to us. This emblem of Venice represents the technological innovation of the past, the material’s resistance to the weather and a safe guide even in the most hostile situations.

The jewellery is completely handmade in every detail, and comes in two versions, white and pink gold. The front of the three bars represent the three poles, and have been crafted to convey the sensation, at sight and touch, of the porosity of imperfect wood. The back features a meticulous design of water droplets, as if to emulate the continuous link between Venice and this element.

The band that unites the three bars is adorned by diamonds which recapture the others that join the pendant to the chain.

Come and discover this collection that pays tribute to the Serenissima in our Boutiques of Venice and Vicenza.
