Walking around Venice it’s easy to come across a street artist with a violin or an acoustic guitar. After all, music has always been a big part of the city on the water.
Tourists and Venetians can still listen to the eternal musical melodies of the greatest composers in the churches, palazzos overlooking the canal, fields and in the famous La Fenice theatre. One of these composers is certainly Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Mozart was born in Salzburg in 1756, the son of the violinist Leopold and Anna Maria Pertl, and from an early age showed all the signs of a prodigious musical talent. By the age of 4, he was already playing the violin and harpsichord, and at the age of 6, he composed his first minuets and short pieces. Aware of his son’s exceptional talents, his father took Wolfgang on a journey across Europe where he could perform before admiring audiences but, above all, come into contact with all the musical modes of expression of that time.
Mozart died at the age of only 35, leaving behind an unfinished requiem, vespers, symphonies and numerous plays such as “Le Nozze di Figaro”, “Don Giovanni” and “Così fan tutte”. A musical talent who revolutionised the music scene thanks to the lightness, yet poignant melancholy of his compositions.
